Campaign Activity Today
We went leafleting this morning with Councillor Allan Stewart in the Cowlairs ward, and tomorrow we'll be doing phone canvassing for the Robroyston ward, and we'll be continuing our work up to and beyond next May's elections. Allan got a good response from constituents this morning, and we've already had e-mails in response to his ward newsletter.
Internationally, the situation in the Middle East continues to be of major concern - we'll be having a debate on international matters at September's CLP meeting. It appears that we need some form of multilateral conference under the aegis of the UN to consider the stability of the entire region, to secure a lasting ceasefire covering not just Hezbollah and Israel, but also Hamas and Israel, progressing proposals for a viable Palestinian state with proper sovereignty, and also recognition of Israel by much of the Arab world.
